United States Army Field Manual FM 8-50 Bandaging and Splinting. 1944-01-15
"Bandaging is both a science and an art. The proper bandage, properly applied, can aid materially in the recovery of the patient. A carelessly or improperly applied bandage can cause discomfort to the patient and may imperil his life. Thus, it is important that enlisted men of the Medical Department should become familiar with the various bandages and be able to apply them properly. The following pages will aid the student and the teacher; but the art of bandaging can be mastered only by constant practice."
